Taking Pictures Like a Pro

What Does it Take to Have the “Eye?”

Having the right “eye” is more than just snapping a shot, it is being able to look at things from different perspectives while noticing how perfect the light and the composition are. I have learned to trust my inner instincts, by letting the camera give me the skills that I need.

There is a difference between me taking a picture that is decent and one that is amazing, and this can require both skill and preparing for the perfect setup. I have to start by asking myself, “what do I want to capture?” or “What kind of shot am I taking, an action or a still shot?” Sometimes I even choose if I want to create a family portrait or if I want to do some kind of still life.

No matter what I am trying to create, there are things that I will need to do to make sure that I am getting the perfect picture and not just something mediocre. I love to try my “eye” at taking different shots to see what the best kind is of shot is that I can get.

Rules of the Best Shot

Every time I take a picture, I make sure that the things such as the S-curve and the leading lines are perfect when I look through the lens.

I always try to communicate the vastness of the showing scale and use the rule of the thirds to make sure that I am making images that are balanced and that have the right kind of layers. When I do this, I make my subject look interesting and I make my pictures come alive.

I have found that the best places to take pictures are anywhere you are, but I always like to make sure that the lighting is good or that I have a flash that I can use. There are even times that I will carry a flashlight with me when I go places in case, I need some kind of lighting. This can help my images to turn out perfectly!

Be a Pro not an Amateur

By understanding tips of the trade, I have went from taking amateur shots to making my picture-taking skills professional! By finding the knowledge that I have, I have learned to practice my skills and get the best kind of shots.

As soon as I find the perfect subject, taking the shots are like cake-work and I can get the perfect picture no matter what kind of environment I am in.

Most of all, I love to have fun with my work and let my pictures tell the story that they want to tell. Do not force the creativity, it will come naturally to you as you practice, practice and practice! I know it worked for me!
